    Patent attorney

    Dr. Felix Wolff

    Dr. Felix Wolff is a founding partner and previously worked at Bayer AG in the area of strategic planning. He is a German and European Patent and Trademark Attorney as well as a UPC Representative.

    He specialises in advising clients on the strategic alignment of property rights portfolios throughout the development phase, and he has successfully asserted patent rights against third parties and advised clients defending patent infringement suits.

    Dr. Wolff studied process technology at the Technical University of Munich, did a doctorate at the University of Dortmund and graduated as a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at PURDUE University, Indiana, USA. He is the author of several scientific publications on the subject of thermodynamics and environmental protection technology. Dr. Wolff is tutor at the Summer School on Intellectual Property at the University of Bonn.

    Dr. Wolff is married and has two daughters.

    Dr. Oliver Brosch

    Dr Oliver Brosch is a partner who deals with examination, opposition and appeal proceedings in patent matters at the European Patent Office, the German Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Patent Court in various technical areas, particularly organic and inorganic chemistry, pharmaceutics and process technology. He also specialises in looking after global brand portfolios.

    He is a German and European Patent and Trademark Attorney as well as a UPC Representative.

    Dr. Brosch studied chemistry at the University of Bochum and wrote his dissertation at the Max Planck Institute in Mülheim an der Ruhr.

    Dr Brosch is married and has two children. He plays golf and actively supports a Peruvian children’s home.

    Dipl.-Phys. Thilo Schwöbel

    Dipl.-Phys. Thilo Schwöbel is a partner and has many years of experience in providing customer-specific strategies for obtaining and defending IP rights portfolios and in conducting freedom-to-operate analyses, especially in the fields of telecommunications, automotive and micromechanics.

    Thilo Schwöbel studied physics at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, is an ‘Ingénieur Diplômé’ of ENSPG of the Grenoble Institute of Technology, France, and completed the CEIPI course in patent, design and trademark law at Robert Schuman University in Strasbourg, France (‘Diplôme CEIPI cycle long’). He is a German and European Patent and Trademark Attorney as well as a UPC Representative. He worked in the central patent department of Robert Bosch GmbH for several years, draws up patent applications in German, English and French, and gives talks on the subject of IP rights.

    His family and friends play a major role in his private life and he enjoys cooking, hiking and cycling.

    Dr. Jan Bülle

    Dr Jan Bülle is a partner and specialises in the patent application process and patent litigation, particularly in relation to all proceedings at the European Patent Office. In addition, he looks after patent families in cooperation with foreign colleagues in practically every industrialised nation. He has many years of experience in organic chemistry, polymer science, biochemistry and pharmaceutics.

    He is a German and European Patent and Trademark Attorney as well as a UPC Representative.

    Dr Bülle studied chemistry at the University of Freiburg and did a doctorate in organic chemistry at the University of Bochum. He is co-author of the textbook ‘Organische und bioorganische Chemie’ published by Wiley VCH.

    Dr Bülle is married and has a daughter.

    Dipl.-Phys. Jan Pieter Loock

    Jan Pieter Loock, a graduate physicist, has been working in the field of intellectual property since 2007 and has been an equity partner at Kutzenberger Wolff & Partner since 2012. He has an extraordinary amount of experience in opposition and nullity proceedings, which can be seen from the successful conduct of already several hundred oral hearings. Furthermore, Mr. Loock has been actively involved in a large number of infringement proceedings, including far-reaching international proceedings in the USA, France, Italy, Austria, Australia and Switzerland.

    Mr. Loock consults and represents well-known large and medium-sized companies and universities in Germany and abroad. The technical focus of his work is in the fields of automotive engineering, plant engineering, rapid prototyping, packaging technology, food processing, vertical farming, optics and household appliances.

    His work covers all aspects of intellectual property, with particular expertise in building and strategically aligning strong and valuable patent portfolios. Furthermore, the preparation of product-related freedom-to-operate analyses is one of his main areas of expertise.

    Mr. Loock studied physics at the Universities of Heidelberg and Bonn, specializing in chip design, microelectronics and analog circuit technology. He is a German patent attorney and a professional representative before the European Patent Office and the Unified Patent Court. In addition, Mr. Loock was a lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the Technical University of Dresden for the certificate course “Intellectual Property Rights” for many years.

    Dipl.-Ing. Gordian Prescher, LL.M.

    Gordian Prescher is a partner and advises company founders, medium-sized companies and large corporations in patent, design and trademark law as well as in issues of employee invention law. His technical focus lies in the areas of semiconductor technology and electronics, communication and communications engineering, medical technology, power electronics, electric drive technology, vehicle technology, laser technology and defense technology.

    He is a German and European Patent and Trademark Attorney as well as a UPC Representative.

    Gordian Prescher studied electrical engineering and information technology at RWTH Aachen University and completed a master's degree in law. Prior to his work as a patent attorney, European Patent Attorney and European Trademark and Design Attorney, he was a development engineer at Infineon Technologies and Philips.

    In his patent law practice, Mr. Prescher deals, among other things, with the protection of software as computer-implemented inventions and with artificial intelligence systems.

    He represents his clients in numerous opposition and nullity proceedings before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Federal Patent Court and the European Patent Office. Furthermore, he regularly participates in infringement proceedings before the German civil courts and the Unified Patent Court (e.g. in disputes concerning standard essential patents).

    Dr. Constanze Wiederhold

    Dr. Constanze Wiederhold studied chemistry at RWTH Aachen and received her doctorate in inorganic chemistry. Dr. Wiederhold successfully completed her training as a German patent attorney at Kutzenberger Wolff & Partner.

    Dipl.-Phys. Falko Brögger

    Dipl.-Phys. Falko Brögger is an associate at Kutzenberger Wolff & Partner’s Munich office. He counsels clients on legal issues relating to patents, designs and trademarks and advises them on employee invention law matters.
     
    Mr Brögger has a degree in physics from RWTH Aachen University with a specialisation in experimental solid state physics. During his time at university he also attended patent and utility model law lectures. He wrote his thesis on the subject of nanooptics. 
     
    Mr Brögger’s technical specialisations are (nano)optics as well as the automotive, food processing and beverage manufacturing industries. He advises clients on structuring their patent portfolios, conducts novelty searches and freedom-to-operate analyses, prepares validity opinions and drafts patent registrations.
     
    Mr Brögger is a German and European Patent and Trademark Attorney as well as a UPC Representative. He is a member of the Federal Association of German Patent Attorneys, the FICPI and the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office.
     
    Mr Brögger speaks fluent German, French, English and Spanish and has a basic knowledge of Italian and Japanese.

    Christian Freytag has a degree in chemistry and business studies from TU Kaiserslautern.
    He joined Kutzenberger Wolff & Partner in 2012.
    In 2019 Christian passed the European Patent Office’s European qualifying examination.
